Your host is Debbie Thompson - she is passionate about her horses, and about her area - the stunning Cardrona Valley, between Wanaka and Queenstown.  The area is a very beautiful historic gold mining and sheep farming region.

The horses used are Appaloosas - the breed is ideally suited for the region, and their calm nature means they are suitable for any rider, including inexperienced children.  The horses are trained by natural horsemanship methods to enhance the ride, and western riding saddles are provided.  Back Country Saddle Expeditions has been operating for 24 years, and is a Qualmark-endorsed visitor activity.
