www.founderspark.co.nz The entrance to Founders Heritage Park is through a prominent Nelson landmark, a replica of Doctor Bush’s Windmill, which was located near to the Nelson city centre and which burned down in 1867. Inside the park, the visitor learns much about the story of Nelson. through the collection of older buildings and exhibits and stories dating back to the earliest days, all presented in a park setting. You will see the magnificent St. Peter’s-by-the-Strand church (1874), and the clock which once counted minutes for the boys of Nelson College until it tumbled down in the 1929 Murchison Earthquake. The Nelson Mail printery, the General Store, Newmans Coach Depot and a genuine Bristol Freighter aeroplane that visitors can look through. Click HERE for more on the exhibilts. Founders offers many permanent working displays, operated by business folk and not-for-profit societies. In keeping with Nelson’s long brewing history, the famous Founders Brewery and Café is open every day, and LArtisan Bakery is to die for!
